Hurting Others
I had not gone to the herd for a couple of days. When I got there, Epo-Na asked:’ Where have you been?’
‘I have been thinking’, I said.
‘’About what?’
‘About all the things I have done wrong in my life. I have hurt so many things: human animals, non-human animals, trees, plants, the earth itself. I have said sorry so many times these days to everything that in one way or another I have hurt that I cannot count the sorry’s. ’Why are human animals so ignorant? Why have I been so ignorant? Why can’t I do all over again, not hurt so many things?’
‘Ignorance is the greatest plague of human animals’, she said.
‘But why?’, I asked.
‘Maybe to give you a chance to grow up’, she said.
‘At the expense of others?, I asked.
